The Key to Safe Driving
The windshield should be at the top of the list of automotive parts that require immediate repair after an accident. Drivers who do not have a safe, protected windshield endanger themselves and their passengers. These five indicators should tell you that your car needs windshield replacement before it’s too late.
When behind the wheel, motorists have a duty to take responsibility for their actions and the things they observe. It is possible for a driver’s vision to be impaired by even little chips or cracks in the windshield. It’s possible for a crack in the glass to provide the impression of an oncoming car to a driver when they’re cruising down the highway. Responding to this delusion will result in a severe collision.
Inspection is coming up
On your inspection sticker, you’ll find one of the five signs that your windshield needs to be replaced. If you have an upcoming inspection for your vehicle and the windshield has a crack in it, you need to get it fixed before your appointment. If the windshield is broken, the car might not pass the inspection.
If you’re a frequent highway traveler, you might have noticed some pitting in your windshield. Small rocks and dirt can cause pitting on windshields when they impact and chip away at the glass. Windshield pitting is most obvious when the sun is directly overhead. If the pits make it difficult to see or concentrate, this can be risky.
White at the edges
Polyvinyl butyral (PVB) is used to coat the windshields of cars so that they don’t break into pieces when they hit something. Instead, if there was an accident, the PVB would cause the windshield to break into small pieces that would not hurt the people inside. If you see a white haze around the edges of the windshield, you need to replace the PVB.
Too many car owners fix broken parts with trash bags or duct tape. Never let your windshield be “repaired” in this manner. Windshields provide structural support and weather protection. If you’re considering fixing your windshield, it needs to be replaced. Do this task immediately.
